March 31st

The girls are officially a month old now and I cannot believe how much they have changed. They are kind of in an awkward teenager stage but still adorable! They are Domino, Merida, River, Spike, Sunshine and Trinity.

March 16th

A little over two weeks old and these girls are hilarious! I love the fact that they can't look at you straight on so they have to give you the side-eye!!

March 7th

I was actually really amazed at how quickly the chicks grew. Seven days and they had so much personality!

Baby Chicks - Day One

Once I saw the chickens our friend, Selina, had I was even more determined to have chickens of my own. There was much conversation about them and February 27th, we finally met Selina at the local shop, BUCKLEY'S, to get our baby chicks. Imagine our disappointment to find that the delivery of chicks had sold out within the first 24 hours! We made plans to meet again on March 2nd when the next shipment was expected. On March 1st, Buckley's posted that their chicks had come a day early and were available. I immediately called Angel who drove over to pick up the chicks. I texted her this list of what I wanted.
These are the first pictures of "the girls" in their temporary box home. And that is how we began our adventure in raising chickens for eggs.

And the Adventure begins....

I am creating this blog as a journal of our experiments with urban gardening. Some will be wildly successful and others will be dismal failures but through it all, we will learn and grow and experience. My name is Kimberly and I am starting this adventure with my daughter, Angel. You will see posts from both of us to offer different perspective as well as pictures of what we are doing. Would love comments from you and will answer questions as well.
